Childhood

If you think about it, girls thrive on romance. We love being pursued. We love all those cheesy lines from chick flicks. We love being swept off our feet by our knight in shining armor. We love being given gifts and attention and being wooed. We love the adoration and all the compliments. And sometimes we actually thrive for all those things.
I myself admit that I’m a hopeless romantic. Despite my fascination for zombie movies and for robots that turn into cars, deep down, I’m a sucker for romantic stories. But I never really wondered why.
It’s actually quite interesting when you try to stop and pause for a moment and just observe who you are as a person and ask the question, “Why am I like this?”
So as I read the book, “Captivating” by John & Stasi Eldredge, I realized that there is actually a reason and a purpose behind me being so romance savvy. All along I thought, that there was something wrong with me for being like this and I hated myself for being such a hopeless romantic. But actually, God has designed me to be this way. In fact, He has designed women to be exactly that. There’s a purpose behind it all!
Women are wired to long for romance. AND God wants to give us that romance. Not just by giving us a man. In fact, we don’t need a man pursuing us because God actually wants to pursue us. We are after all His princesses. We are His daughters.
””But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there.”Hosea 2:14
God runs after us. He wants to pursue us. But why? Why does He want to pursue us? So He could lord over our lives and do what He wants with us? Of course not! He likes to pursue us because He loves us. No—actually, He’s CRAZY about us.
“Like a lily among thorns
is my darling among the maidens.”
Song of Songs 2:2
“My dove in the clefts of the rock,
in the hiding places on the mountainside,
show me your face,
let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet,
and your face is lovely.”
Song of Songs 2:14“All beautiful you are, my darling;
there is no flaw in you.”
Song of Songs 4:7“You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride;
you have stolen my heart
with one glance of your eyes,
with one jewel of your necklace.
How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride!
How much move pleasing is your love than wine,
and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!”
Song of Songs 4:9-10And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The book of Songs is filled with so much more adoration from God about you. Because like I said, God is so crazy about you. He calls you DARLING. He tells you how beautiful you are and how perfect you are. He tells you how much YOU have captured His heart. And you have to admit, we all long to be told those words. God was the pioneer for all the cheesy lines. All the other guys just copied His style.
He loves you not just like a Father. Or not because the priest says so or something. He loves you not because He has to love you like most people would think but He loves YOU like how a lover would love you.
God designed us to have this desire for romance because He is a relational God. That’s the imprint He has left on us. He likes being in a relationship and He has created us in His image in that sense. He designed us that way and He WANTS to fulfill that want.
Do you ever wonder why you like the idea of being given gifts? And hearing sweet words? And hearing compliments of how beautiful your hair is? And your eyes? Or how great you look in those clothes? It’s because of THIS! It’s because God designed us that way. And He knows that we like all these things. We like hearing compliments and we like being given gifts. We like to know how beautiful we are. He knows it. And He plans on fulfilling that.
I know that most girls have broken hearts. Parts of us have went away because we gave our hearts to people that just did not know how to take care of it. Or people who didn’t really know how precious you really are. They never really saw how valuable you are. But I hope you realize how valuable YOU are to God. And how much He really does love you.
Most guys would be all just talk. They’d say the sweetest lines and utter things that would make our knees buckle and our hearts jump over the moon. But then the words never really follow through. They can talk the talk but not walk the walk.
But God’s not like that. If He tells you that He’ll do something, He will do it. If everyone else has failed you, you can be sure that He won’t. So, when He said He was going to send Jesus Christ on earth to die for you, to die in your place, THAT is exactly what happened. Jesus Christ died the death we deserved.
I mean isn’t that enough of a proclamation of how much He loves us? :)
So if there are times when you feel that you are not loved or you’re not beautiful don’t believe it. These are just lies that the enemy is whispering in your ear because the enemy wants what you have. The enemy is jealous of you and your beauty.
Because YOU ARE loved and YOU ARE beautfiul. You are God’s princess. And who is God? Well, God is the King of Kings. And for the KING of Kings to call you His darling, and His daughter and His princess, just goes to show how special you are and how loved you really are.
“I have loved you with an EVERLASTING LOVE.”
Jeremiah 31:3
